Sheri Stults has been the preschool director of Shepherd of the Hills since it’s opening in August 2001. She also currently serves as teacher of the Junior Kindergarten class. Sheri loves watching how God has blessed the preschool from one room, two teachers, three classes and 21 children in 2001 to five classrooms, 16 teachers, 16 combinations of classes and over 100 students.  Sheri received her Bachelor’s degree in elementary education with an early childhood concentration in May 1988. A master’s degree in early childhood education was earned in May 2006 from Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska. Sheri has enjoyed teaching preschool through second grade in public and Lutheran schools in Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri and Colorado since 1988. Directing preschools has been her passion since 1999.  Sheri has two teenage sons at home. Being at various sporting activities with her sons keeps her busy. Sheri also enjoys hiking, gardening, reading, sewing, and baking.

Julie Duffy has been teaching since 1988 – she has been here at Shepherd since 1990!  She is a Colorado native and attended Lutheran schools here for elementary and secondary education.  She graduated from Concordia University – Seward NE – with a BS in elementary education – including a concentration in early childhood.  She loves teaching and has taught a variety of grades but centered in on Kindergarten for a majority of the time. Her husband Brett is a huge support to her ministry at Shepherd and her children; William and Kristin are both graduates of SOTH!  She loves flamingos and enjoys cooking, reading, scrap booking AND her new granddaughter, Caelyn Rose! 

Susan Bredehoeft received her B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. She has taught preschool for more than 15 years. Susan has been at SOTH since 2004.  Susan is married to her husband Dave and has a daughter, Emily, and a son, Sam. She enjoys reading, cooking, singing with the Shepherd's Chorale at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, and exercising at the recreation center.

Jan Hizer is the mother of 3, an RN, and an instructor. She and her husband, Bill are blessed with 3 children; Gary, Kelsey, and Derek. Jan has been at Shepherd of the Hills School since 1995. She began volunteering when her oldest child began attending the school. During that time Jan has been blessed with many opportunities to serve God and others. Jan serves the school by providing her nursing skills to the children, by certifying the staff in CPR and First Aid, and in teaching a middle school class on First Aid and CPR as well. This year, Jan was also asked to be one of the teachers for our Preschool program. Jan feels it is a true joy to come spread God’s love with His children every day, and to be with others who feel the same!

Nancy Williams has been involved in the field of child care, education and guidance since 1969. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in English and Art education and has created developmental curriculum for both elementary and secondary schools. 

Nancy's graduate studies focused on teaching through games, simulations, and projective techniques such as puppetry and masks. She has created and conducted workshops to inspire educators as well as parents and other adults to use various techniques and media to access the heart of a child within themselves and others.

Yvetta Layne received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Metropolitan State College.  She has worked as a Sales Assistant for a Stock Brokerage Firm and in a school Resource Department with teens.  Yvetta and her husband, Daryl, were married in 1988and they have two wonderful sons who are 16 and 18 years old.  Yvetta has been working at Shepherd of the Hills since 2004 and she loves working with God’s children.

Dianna received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management from Regis University in 1997.  Dianna married John in 1991 and have been blessed with five children; Daniel, Dasia, Jeneva, Jacob and Annalise, who all currently attend Shepherd of the Hills.  Dianna has been volunteering at SOTH since 2000 and enjoys working with children of all ages.  John and Dianna have been foster parents, working with severely neglected and abused children with both Arapahoe County and Lutheran Family Services since 1999.  Dianna has also been a Sunday School teacher at Shepherd of the Hills off and on for the last eight years and am currently teaches the 3 and 4 year old class.  She believes children are our future and feels to be blessed to be working with the children and their families as they begin their exploration in learning about God's wonderful world.  Dianna enjoys camping with her family, reading and lots of coffee!! 

Janine Knippenberg is thrilled to be teaching your children this year.  She is married to John who is Advertising Manager for Furniture Row Marketing.  They have two teenage daughters and are members of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.  Janine attended Valparaiso University in Indiana where she received a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education with a Learning Disabilities Endorsement.  She has been a Resource Room teacher in Missouri and a preschool teacher here in Denver.  She enjoys teaching Sunday School at SOTH as well.  Janine loves children and believes that each one is a precious and unique gift from God.
